To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of 1965 Indo-Pak war, a desert safari undertaken by Mathura (Uttar Pradesh) based Strike 1 on behalf of the Sapta Shakti Command, arrived at Fazilka on Thursday and paid tributes to the martyrs at the Asafwala memorial.
The safari, which commenced from Varanasi on August 16, will end in New Delhi today (Friday) after traversing about 3,500 km.
As part of the earmarked route of conduct, the safari team reached Amogh division in Sriganganagar on Wednesday and interacted with the students of the Army Public School in Sriganganagar.
The team leader of the rally provided an insight to the students on 1965 operations and shared gallantry acts of Unsung Heroes of the nation.
The interaction will benefit in shaping the hearts and minds of the youth of the region and go a long way in enhancing awareness amongst all about the army.
The team was flagged off from Sriganganagar by GOC Amogh division for Fazilka. The team also paid tributes to martyrs at the Nagi War Memorial.
At Fazilka, the safari visited the war memorial at Sadqi and Asafwala to pay homage to the martyrs of the war.
On Thursday, the team was flagged off by Commander, Fazilka Brigade, to visit the war memorial at Asafwala where they paid homage to the martyrs.
